Regional and Student Governors Programmes

As part of the wider agenda to develop FE governance, this programme of regional events aims to support board members and senior leaders in FE to improve board effectiveness and overall provider performance. These events are delivered by the Association of Colleges and are free to attend.

Regional inductions

Each induction will aim to inform the learning of new board members, covering the following topics and much more:

  • The role of a governor
  • Local and national policy
  • The code of good governance
  • Management and governance
  • Quality assurance
  • Equality and diversity

Regional conferences

The conferences will aim to support board members and senior leaders to understand good quality governance and improve understanding of responsibilities and topical issues in the sector. Each event will be streamlined with national governance priorities but be tailored to local priorities.

Student governor inductions

The student governors’ inductions, delivered jointly by AoC and Unloc, have been organised to help new student governors in their role.

Each student governor induction will support student governors in fulfilling their roles by aiming to improve understanding of the current further education sector landscape and ensure that they are made aware of their importance to the board. 

Each free session will last 90 minutes.
