Strategic Innovation for Skills

Strategic Innovation for Skills: A programme for senior Curriculum & Quality Leaders is aimed at leaders responsible for curriculum and quality. Funded by the Department for Education the programme will equip leaders with a current knowledge of the broad issues facing the FE sector, and to help assist with the strategic planning of the curriculum. 

Programme overview

Themes covered within the programme will include future jobs, future skills needs, curriculum and quality in FE, and pedagogy in FE. Participants will consider a research base in these areas and implications of this for their own practice, for the providers in which they work, and for their own professional development.

The programme will support Curriculum and Quality leaders to consider the following when developing strategies in their colleges: Jobs and skills, Curriculum, Pedagogy and Quality.

Areas covered in this programme include:

  • The future labour market and the implications of this for curriculum.
  • The future skills market and the implications of this for curriculum and pedagogy.
  • The attributes of a successful leader in the FE sector and implications in your role.
  • Leading a 21st century curriculum.
  • Leading on pedagogy.
  • Ensuring high quality provision in the FE sector.
  • The principles of leading and undertaking action research.
  • Setting up your action research project.
