Good literacy and numeracy skills are central to success in work, study and life. The ETF offers a comprehensive range of CPD courses to support effective teaching of maths and English for teachers of GCSE, Functional Skills, apprenticeships and study programmes. Each year around 4,000 practitioners complete face to face, online and blended courses to improve their teaching and assessment approaches in maths and English.
Our support for maths and English includes:
Our offer has been carefully designed to provide solutions to concerns around progress in post-16 maths and English attainment. Our courses are making an impact; watch our video of Liam Alderton explaining how we supported him to enhance his digital approach to teaching maths and English.
In addition to training for teachers, we offer a wrap-around programme of English and maths support, including the opportunity to engage with our Regional Specialist Leads, who deliver advice and guidance and help identify the best options available for organisations and individuals on a local level.
Accessing courses and resources from the Shaping Success offer will help raise the standard of teaching, the attainment of learners and better prepare them for key maths and English skills in the workplace, or further study.

Once a year a maths and an English supplement are produced alongside inTuition, the Society for Education and Training (SET) quarterly professional journal. The supplements explore developments in maths and English education and training and are free to read online.
The back-catalogue of inTuition journals is available to SET members and non-SET members.
Sign-up for a SET membership to receive the journal and the supplements.
